YOU CAN NOW APPLY FOR YOUR 2012 EAGLES MEMBERSHIP ON-LINE
The season has already started with a number of Saturday training rides having already taken place. Apply for your membership now. You cannot participate in any Eagles rides until you have completed the membership process and are therefore insured under the OCA’s insurance policy.
If you have been delaying applying for your 2012 membership either because it is not warm enough for you to ride outside or because you are intimidated by the old paper-based process, or by our taciturn former Membership Coordinator, you may be re-assured by this news:
1. Our intimidating Membership Coordinator has moved on to an even higher position in the Club and has been replaced with Chris Raynor who has a younger outlook on life and is responsible for bringing our membership process into the digital age as described in point #2.
2. Within the next few days (website is currently down – so check back) you will be able to apply for membership on-line from the comfort of your own home with no requirement to venture outside to a mailbox and arguably with lower risk that you will mess up your application forms, like you did last year.
This is what you need to do:
1. Go to the Membership Page of www.newmarketeagles.com and look for the “join” button.
2. Make sure you read all instructions and the WAIVER that you will agree to.
3. Follow the instructions and apply for Club Membership. Keep following the instructions to separately apply for OCA Insurance. You cannot be a member of the club without buying OCA insurance. You will receive your membership card directly from the OCA but until that arrives you should print off the receipt and carry it with you to all Eagles events.
4. If you already have OCA insurance through purchase of an OCA/UCI race licence or Citizens permit, or membership in another OCA club, you are permitted to pay only the club portion of the membership fee. However, if you choose this option, be advised that verification of your previous purchase of OCA insurance will be undertaken by OCA, PRIOR to approval of your membership application.
You cannot participate in Eagles rides, races or TT’s until our Membership Coordinator has been informed by the OCA that this verification has been completed. You will receive your membership card directly from the OCA but until that arrives you should print off the receipt and carry it with you to all Eagles events.
And on another point:
· If you did a Time Trial last year, plan to do one this year, or have ever even contemplated the race of truth, go to the Calendar page of the website and take careful note of the date on which you will be a volunteer marshal. Remember for out and back TT’s a turn marshal is mandatory for us to proceed with the TT.
